Smart Layer
- When requesting technical support on a Smart Server, customers can identify their server by the alias he chose in the Control Center. It will be easier to recognize a Smart Server without having to remember the NE TXXX-XX ID. Likewise, a Smart Server’s alias will also be visible in the Customer Hub.
Billing system
- Our systems now accept credit cards whose expiration date is in 20 years. There will be no more need to contact the Sales Department or Customer Service to accept payment with such credit cards.

Montreal (Quebec), November 23, 2011 — iWeb, a global provider of Internet hosting services and IT infrastructure, is proud to present its new website. The opportunity was ideal because iWeb has just celebrated 15 years of business on the web.
Several changes were made to iWeb.com to improve our visitor’s user experience and to better showcase our products and services.
“The customer experience is central to our business values. We wanted to offer the same visual quality and ergonomics on our site that we implement in our products, like the Smart Server’s Control Center”, said Martin Leclair, President, Products and Technology at iWeb. “Hundreds of hours of design, content writing, programming and integration were put in to achieve this and we hope our visitors will enjoy”, he added.
Meticulously crafted, fast and easy to navigate, the new site showcases iWeb’s products and services at a glance. A new menu on one side of the home page, puts forward unmanaged, dedicated servers that can be ordered and activated directly from the site. On the other side, one can find a description of our infrastructure design services and advanced solutions and speak with a specialist for more information. The site also features iWeb’s new server management and monitoring packages.

iWeb’s official statement about Citizen Lab’s report
Several media outlets have recently published articles based on a report from the Citizen Lab organization, which can be found here: http://citizenlab.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/canadian_connection.pdf
The report, entitled “The Canadian Connection: An investigation of Syrian government and Hezbullah web hosting in Canada” highlights a very important issue, providing a summary of what has become a complex problem for the web hosting industry.
The Canadian government has enacted regulations that restrict Canadian firms such as iWeb from doing business with certain foreign individuals and entities. iWeb is committed to strict compliance with these laws and continues to monitor its compliance.
In 2008, iWeb inadvertently hosted two websites affiliated with Hezbollah. When iWeb learned of the websites’ affiliation, it cancelled its web hosting services.
Canada has enacted targeted sanctions against certain Syrian government entities and individuals. Canada has not enacted a broad embargo against doing business with Syria.
The Citizen lab report identified a number of Syrian government entities for which the internet address resolves directly or indirectly to iWeb. With one exception, none of the listed entities are subject to Canadian sanctions. The exception is Addunia T.V. which was listed as a sanctioned entity on October 3, 2011. iWeb has not provided any services directly to Addunia T.V. and is investigating whether its facilities have been used by one of its customers for the benefit of Addunia T.V. without its knowledge. iWeb will be taking all appropriate steps in light of its findings.

Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician
Main functions:
Reporting to the Director of infrastructure, the incumbent, as a technician in building maintenance will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire protection and electrical systems.
He will also deal with minor architectural and carpentry work, door adjustments, locks as well as touch-up paint, ceramic and carpet repair, replacement of ceiling tiles, neon and light bulbs.

iWeb celebrates Smart Server’s first anniversary
Montreal (Québec) October 20, 2011 — iWeb.com, a global provider of Internet hosting services and IT infrastructure, proudly announces the activation of the 3000th Smart Server and celebrates by the same token the first birthday of its flagship server.
One year ago, iWeb introduced its biggest innovation to date. The launch of the Smart Server, the first product based on iWeb’s SmartLayer technology, marked the first step in transforming the company into an innovative provider of automated Web hosting services.
A more intelligent Smart Server
Since its release, the product has evolved and the iWeb team has delivered a multitude of features to its customers in order to give them more control over the management of their servers. The promise to deliver a product that eliminates many of the problems normally associated with the management and use of a dedicated server was successfully fulfilled.
“We stayed in touch with our customers and developped features that meet their expectations ,” said Martin Leclair, iWeb’s President of Products and Technology . “Customers who buy a Smart Server today will also benefit from any new feature that will be added in the future.” he adds.
What does the Smart Server have to offer today?
Over the year, several features were added with both increased security and server management ease in mind, all available through the Control Center, the Smart Server’s user-friendly management interface. The SuperSmart option provides a software firewall to easily protect critical Smart Server ports and services. Automated Reinstall of the operating system is now available to the customer right from the Control Center. Customers are now able to easily save and restore their data and their Smart Server configurations (including MySQL database configurations) in a few clicks with the available R1Soft backup tools. Smart Groups brings together multiple Smart Servers in an environment completely isolated from other clients allowing each server in the group to communicate easily while remaining invisible to other servers connected to the same LAN, as if they were installed in a physical private rack. All these features are now available in the “Smart Services” tab, in the Control Center, for easy management of the Smart Server. Many other features will be rolled out in 2012.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the Smart Server a contest will soon be held. Full details will be announced in coming weeks on the iWeb.com site.

iWeb simplifies its server management packages
Montreal (Quebec), October 11, 2011 — iWeb.com, a global provider of Internet hosting services and IT infrastructure announces today the modification of their dedicated server management and monitoring packages. iWeb aims at better serve its dedicated server customers by providing them with simpler support solutions, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Two new support packages are introduced:
“Managed On Demand” Package
For $75/month, this package includes 2 hours of server management, that can be used for emergency support or for consulting with iWeb’s webhosting specialists. “Rapid Response” Monitoring Service

A maximum response time of 15 minutes is guaranteed for a member of the technical support team to manually restart the service that triggered the alert.
The “Ping” monitoring service (with email alerts) is now included free with all iWeb dedicated servers (Smart or Classic) and it is always possible to obtain timely technical support for an unmanaged server at the hourly rate of $75/hour.

So long, Mister Jobs
We won’t hide the fact that many of us at iWeb, are fans of Steve Jobs and of the Apple brand.
It is not uncommon to see Macbooks and iPhones in our hallways. As for our Marketing, “UX” and design teams, they are officially in mourning this morning.
We just wanted to pay a humble tribute to this genial inventor, communicator and marketer with this little blog post.

iWeb announces the creation of new shared hosting service Funio
Montreal (Quebec), October 4, 2011 — iWeb.com, a global provider of Internet hosting services and IT infrastructure announces today the creation of Funio.com. This new company will aim to consolidate all shared hosting and domain name reservation activities, which will no longer be offered by iWeb. This service supports over 15,000 clients, 23,000 websites and 32,000 domain names in over 100 countries around the world.
iWeb’s president and chief officer, Eric Chouinard, explains; “I firmly believe that shared hosting must benefit from all the attention of a team of professionals exclusively dedicated to the development of the product. Funio will seize this opportunity to innovate and add value to the products as well as the tools that enable their delivery. In past years, iWeb has invested a lot of time and resources into its “Smart Layer” technology and dedicated servers.
“iWeb will pursue deploying all its efforts in this direction in years to come, thus standing out through this innovation. However, the moment has come to provide our shared hosting customers a dedicated company who will take care of delivering the best out of the service”, he added. The creation of Funio.com also explicits the two company’s mission: iWeb for dedicated servers and Funio for shared hosting.
