Last week, Eric and I visited our four data centers to talk with employees about two important issues. Approximately two weeks ago, we launched our new corporate visuals and a new logo. In parallel, we had also worked on an overhaul of our VMV (Vision, Mission and Values) statements which would be launched at the same time.

For both launches, we knew that simply announcing the news to our employees was not enough. We wanted to give a full explanation to put the change into context and to create a verbal exchange, so that everyone could understand the significance of these events. (more…)

Last week, Skander Srasra and I were in Rust, at the Europa-Park Center, in south-eastern Germany, to attend WorldHostingDays. This international event claims to be the largest web hosting event in the world and after having attended, I have no trouble believing that this is the case. (more…)

You probably know Zappos.com, either since the news that Amazon bought them, in 2009, for 1,2 billion dollars, or just because you have shopped on their site to buy shoes.

At iWeb, we are big fans of “success stories” and we strongly believe in the impact of an enterprise’s culture on its success. It is also why, when I was in Las Vegas, last week, I visited the Zappos headquarters to experience its corporate culture. After about 6 months of non-stop work of our design, marketing and programming team, we are launching our new web site design, new image and new products. We are introducing a lot of changes and it’s only a preview of what 2007 will look like at iWeb. The first change you will notice is our new domain name : iWeb8.Com.

Goodbye dot CA, Hello dot COM

We are moving from iWeb.Ca to the new iWeb8.Com. We liked our .CA and it’s still online for sure. iWeb.Ca now shows an introduction page to iWeb8.Com. Dot CA is a great domain extension, but obviously it’s country related. Since we introduced our competitive Dedicated Servers offers years ago we have focused on letting the world know that there was a Canadian alternative for dedicated servers and that we could compete with the biggest US providers. Now, that has become a well known fact in the industry and we think it’s time to switch from that country related image to a new worldwide image.

You are asking why? Then we made a point, because you will remember. Isn’t iWeb8.Com an easy to remember dot COM? We think so. That’s the first reason why we have chosen to rebrand around this new domain name. We want you to remember our domain name.
