iWeb First To Launch Managed Cloud Hosting Service with guaranteed performance and reliability
The service guarantees disk speed, system management, availability and other elements often stated as barriers to Cloud adoption.
MONTREAL, May 16, 2013 - Canada-based infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) leader iWeb announces the launch of a fully-managed Cloud hosting service based on OpenStack®.
The managed Cloud service is the first Openstack public cloud deployment in Canada and the first in the industry to provide guaranteed disk speed as a standard, a key element of overall system performance. The other key components of this breakthrough service are worry-free system management, rapid deployment, Cloud elasticity, scalability and soon, a robust application-programming interface (API).
“This service would not have been technologically possible even 12 months ago,” says Mike Gero, Director of Product Management. “When we looked at the market we couldn’t find a cloud that met all our customers needs. By engineering this cloud with the best vendors and technologies, we are delivering something I am sure customers will enjoy and competitors will envy. We truly believe this will meet our customer’s performance, availability and support requirements. Due to our use of SSD drives our standard disk performance is on average 2x that of other Cloud providers and the security of customer data is maintained with data replication and redundancy.”
Openstack infrastructure + iWeb’s network + Solid state disk drives (SSD)

Montreal, QC, May 2nd, 2012 – iWeb ranks 107th in the 2012 edition of Branham300, the annual list of the 300 largest Internet and Communications Technology (ICT) companies in Canada, based on revenue. iWeb, who incidentally provides cloud computing infrastructure to several of the companies that made this year’s ranking, continues its climb, from 241st in 2006 to 107th in 2012.
“First things first: congratulations to all our clients and partners who made it into the 2012 ranking!” says Eric Chouinard, iWeb President and Chairman, recently back from a trade mission in Brazil.
The company’s 2011 revenues exceeded US $36M, up 24% from $29.5M in 2010.
“This year’s ranking suggests that the Canadian technology industry is in good shape, a very promising indicator for our future growth in the Canadian market,” adds Chouinard, who co-founded the Montreal-based IT Infrastructure company in 1996 with Martin Leclair. “We are delighted to be recognized among the leading Canadian IT companies, and we are particularly proud that our 24% growth rate compares very well with the ranking’s 11.75% average. It would be great to break into the Top 100 next year! ”
According to the Branham Group, Canada’s ICT industry got back on track in 2011, as cumulative revenues for the Top 250 Canadian Tech companies combined to set a new Branham300 revenue record in 2011, increasing sales by 11.75% to $82.62B. The previous year’s growth was only 3.66%.
Since its inception, iWeb has created over 200 jobs, opened four IT and data centers in Montreal and, after being publicly-traded for eight years, completed its privatization in June of 2011. iWeb recently released a new “kinder” Cloud Server service, powered by its Smart Layer technology. Furthermore, it ranked 18th among the 42 Quebec companies who made it into the 2012 ranking and has no intention of slowing its financial or technological growth.

iWeb.com Launches New “Kinder” Cloud Computing Service
Montreal, April 4th, 2012 – iWeb announces the launch of its new Cloud Server service, powered by its Smart Layer Technology, engineered to be “kinder” and easier to manage by customers, who increasingly require Cloud platforms and servers which are easy to use, quickly deployed and provide capacity and performance on demand – billed by the hour.
“Our customers asked for cloud services, and we heard them loud and clear. We also heard horror stories from businesses that had been charged outrageous amounts for data transfer fees using other cloud platforms. So we decided to build a kinder cloud; one that won’t drown your business with unexpected charges” says Martin Leclair, President of Products and iWeb co-Founder.
Designed to meet the high customer demand for scalable server hosting solutions, provisioned on demand and billed on an hourly basis, the iWeb Cloud Service allows customers to utilize the resources they need, when they need them most and for just as long as required.
“By extending our SmartLayer technology, we have developed a highly performing cloud offering that will exceed the needs of most customers, who can now build their hosting infrastructure using both the new Cloud Server and the Smart Server, which share the same high performance local network”.
The iWeb cloud is a natural progression for the company, which has focused on expanding its highly resilient infrastructure with a high degree of automation. The past two years has seen dramatic growth at iWeb both in terms of customer growth and in terms of the investments made to build highly automated and integrated solutions.
For a limited time, the new Cloud service offers unmetered traffic and no data transfer charges within the iWeb network and out to the internet. Competitively priced and backed by iWeb’s 24/7 hardware, infrastructure and network support, the new Cloud Service is available directly from iWeb.com and through iWeb’s extensive partner and reseller network.

iWeb’s network reaches 50 Gbps
IP network capacity has quintupled over the past year.
Montreal, Quebec, January 19 – With its most recent expansion, iWeb’s network now totals 50 Gbps. In order to meet a constantly greater demand for bandwidth from clients with web-based applications such as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and video services, the global internet hosting provider’s network has more than quintupled in the past year, growing from 9 Gbps to 50 Gbps today.
“The fact is that many companies today are using web-based technologies to keep IT spending under control, or to reduce spending. IT budget restrictions mean that the companies we work with are outsourcing their infrastructure to iWeb faster than planned in order to meet their targets.” says Eric Chouinard, iWeb’s President and CEO. He adds that “New technologies are increasingly web-based, and our clients require more bandwidth every month.”
The network combines a total of 9 major telecommunications carriers into iWeb’s award-winning network, which uses BGP routing to ensure performance and reliability.
“Combined with the ever increasing bandwidth requirements of newer applications, we are constantly surprised with some of the innovative solutions our clients have put online – things we would not have imagined 5 years ago!” says iWeb’s President of Products and Technology, Martin Leclair. “Capacity is scheduled to increase again shortly and continually throughout the coming year, which is a clear indication of the direction in which technologies are heading – everything is going online” confirms the enthusiastic co-founder of iWeb.
The Montreal-based company, whose financial results are scheduled to be published later this week, will be rolling out marketing campaigns to promote related bandwidth and dedicated server hosting services. Since becoming a public company in 2004, iWeb has been steadily growing to become one of Canada’s largest IP hosting firms.
