With an automation-ready data center and network, we needed an automation platform. We called this platform Smart Layer. The platform is a group of software that enables automated server provisioning and automated server management. The platform allows for server inventory management, provisioning of servers, operating system and software installation and communication between the servers and the software platform.

The platform development required intensive functional modeling of the data center, network and servers. This allowed us to create a robust system through which servers can be added, removed, provisioned, re-provisioned or interconnected on the fly. Customers can see the dedicated server inventory in real-time, choose a server and have it ready to use in less than 2 hours. (more…)

The launch of our new Smart Servers coincides with the opening of our 4th datacenter in Montreal.

This new facility has a 31,000 sq ft footprint and will bring our total capacity to 35,000 servers hosted in different strategic locations.

It was custom-built to accommodate our new automated provisioning systems and meet the same high standards of our 3 other data centers. (more…)
