Warning : Windows Worm in Action

Published on February 24, 2007 at 11:41 am by iWeb-Op in: Status

We would like to warn all Dedicated Server customers of Windows servers that a worm, similar to W32.Spybot.NLX, is currently infecting unsecure Windows servers. Multiple servers have been infected during the last 10 hours. Most infected servers were running the MailEnable Software so we think it might be related to the MailEnable Vulnerability Report that was posted some days ago.

We urge Windows Servers customers to apply the latest Windows Updates and to apply MailEnable’s fix if it has not yet been applied. The worm seems to cause the Windows Operating System to become severely unstable. Most infected Windows servers have to be completely reinstalled. Infected Servers of Customers that subscribed to a Management Package with Bad Surprise Insurance will be reinstalled free of charge. We will also offer a special discounted reinstallation price of 25$ to support affected customers that do not have the Bad Surprise Insurance.

Please make sure you always keep your Unmanaged Server updated in order to avoid possible security exploits.
