CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority) will be spearheading Canada?s first ?One Web Day? on September 22nd, 2006, which will piggy-back on similar activities in the US and Internationally on the same day. One Web Day is about celebrating the Internet and connecting Canadians from coast to coast. For the ACEI, to take care of this project in Canada is also an occasion to promote the .CA extension and Canada in the cyberspace. The mission of OneWebDay is to create, maintain, advance, and promote a global day to celebrate online life.

The objectives of the day are:
? Raise awareness, understanding and appreciation of the Internet to encourage usage for positive purposes
? Shed light on the positive contribution that the Internet has brought to our society and economy
? Inform parents and children and other individual users about managing issues resulting from Internet usage
? Encourage partners to take an active role in informing users about issues relating to Internet use such as spam, phishing, pharming, sexual predators, and provide tools to users to eliminate or minimize the problems and combat Internet abusers
