CPanel and MySQL problem

Published on May 24, 2006 at 8:04 am by iWeb-Simon in: Status, Web Development

Update:

The fix for affected customers is to upgrade MySQL to version 4.1. In “Tweak settings” click “Server Configuration” in your WHM, under “MySQL” select 4.1 and check the “Use old style (4.0) passwords with mySQL 4.1″ box. Then login as root on your server and start a MySQL upgrade: /scripts/mysqlup

Dedicated servers customers have reported a problem in CPanel which is causing MySQL to fail to start. We have opened an emergency support ticket with CPanel and are waiting for their feedback. Meanwhile, a temporary workaround is to login as root on your server and restart MySQL manually:

sudo -u mysql /etc/init.d/mysql start
